Two weeks ago, I shared the news that I have left Slush after four incredible years. Slush is a one-the-kind place to learn about all aspects of building companies and meet some of the smartest people on the planet. However, Slush and my style of working have left me little headspace to think about my next move.
It’s clear to me that I want to build a company. The combination of ambitious and intelligent people on a quest to create great products drives me. On a more profound level, I want to lead people by giving them a sense of purpose and the feeling of being a part of something bigger than themselves.
I was looking for a place where I could incubate ideas and look for people to build with. That’s why I am excited to share that I am joining Lifeline Ventures as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR).
I’ll spend the next 6–9 months honing ideas, building and improving my operational skills through helping Lifeline’s portfolio companies. I have no idea where this process will take me but I am committed to the following principles:
- Radical honesty: being honest with my progress
- Show, don’t tell: present something tangible after each milestone
- Focus on what matters: it’s easy to create movement without actually moving anywhere
I’d love to meet people who are embarking on a similar journey or looking to build something in the future. You’ll reach me through miika@lifelineventures.com or DM me at Twitter @miikahuttunen
And so, I’m ready to get to work. Onwards!
